This was a challenge reading because the history of Black rebellion is so depressing. It's depressing because we are not learning from history. The country continues to make the same mistakes by addressing the root causes of violence which includes over policing, poor housing, no jobs, poor schools and no investment in people because they are Black. Dr.Hinton does a great job of laying the history of Black rebellion and the poor response by the government at the local, State and Federal level.The violence Black communities have had to endure is depressing . And it's depressing because how e Black people and how many communities must be destroyed before we realize that racism is going to destroy us all. This book is well researched with a history we need to learn.
